For the highest quality, we rely on carefully selected raw materials, high-quality workmanship and environmentally responsible production based on defined requirements. This is supported by our environmental management system certified according to DIN EN ISO 14001. Production combines high-performance manufacturing equipment with skilled craftsmanship.
Quality control
Competent and committed employees ensure the perfect finish and check every product before it leaves our site. The use of the best raw materials and how we work carefully with them are checked and documented in an elaborate step-by-step quality control process. Testing is carried out in accordance with valid European standards, supplemented by our own quality standards, which were developed at billerbeck.
Certified bedding products and verified standards
The environment, animal welfare and the responsible use of resources are important areas of action at billerbeck. By sustainable production, we mean taking specific requirements relating to materials, manufacturing processes, energy use and supply chains into account and supporting these with transparent standards and certifications. Selected nature-oriented bedding products use renewable organic materials. The respective materials, product characteristics and certifications are stated for each individual product. Environmental requirements relating to manufacturing and processing are not presented as general claims, but are communicated on the basis of the standards and supporting evidence applicable to the respective product.
GOTS certification
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) sets binding requirements for textiles made from organically produced natural fibres. It covers, among other things, the proportion of certified organic fibres, permitted chemical inputs, environmental management, wastewater treatment, working conditions, minimum social requirements, labelling and traceability. The certification applies to the production and processing stages covered within the certified supply chain.
BLUE ANGEL certification
The BLUE ANGEL for textiles (DE-UZ 154) takes into account requirements along the manufacturing process. These include criteria relating to fibres and materials used, chemicals and harmful substances, environmental and health aspects, as well as product performance. Social requirements in textile production are also considered. The label applies exclusively to products that meet the criteria of the relevant award basis.
Cradle to Cradle
Cradle to Cradle Certified® assesses products according to defined criteria. Depending on the scope of certification, these include material health, circularity and further requirements relating to resources, manufacturing processes and social aspects. Certification is based on defined standards and assessment methods. The certification level and scope always refer to the specifically assessed product or material.
RAINFOREST ALLIANCE™
The Rainforest Alliance defines requirements for certified agricultural raw materials and their supply chains. Depending on the scope of certification, these include traceability, supply chain management, working conditions, human rights and environmental requirements. The applicable supply chain requirements also contain specific provisions relating to management, administration, traceability and human rights in risk areas.
DOWNPASS
DOWNPASS defines requirements relating to animal welfare, origin, traceability and the quality of down and feathers. Down and feathers from live-plucked birds and from foie gras production are excluded. The supply chain is documented and reviewed through announced and unannounced audits. Products are also randomly tested for filling composition and correct labelling. An individual test number allows verification of a valid audit.
Responsible Down Standard (RDS)
The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) sets requirements for the welfare of ducks and geese as well as for the traceability of certified down and feathers. Live-plucking and foie gras production are excluded under the standard. Independent certification bodies verify the relevant stages of the supply chain. A chain-of-custody system documents how certified material is passed from the farm through to the final product.
Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex®
The OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is a testing and certification system for textiles that are tested for harmful substances. All components of a certified article, such as outer fabrics, sewing threads, buttons or zips, are tested according to an extensive catalogue of criteria. The requirements depend on the intended level of skin contact: the more intensive the contact, the stricter the limit values and testing requirements.
